Not a pleasant subject but yesterday we noticed that one of our saws was having trouble passing stools, today she is straining and nowt is happening, so we are assuming she has got herself constipated.

Any one with any ideas, have thought of a packets of Sennacot but not sure she would swallow them.

Make up a bran mash. Two double handfuls of plain bran (not made up breakfast cereals) into a bucket and add enough hot water to make a thin paste. Add and mix in 2-3 tablespoons of molasses and leave to cool and thicken. Add some to her usual rations. If necessary, repeat the next day.

A slug of cod liver oil also works wonders.

Never seen this with ours but we have neighbours who are keen vegetable gardeners and/or have orchards so a wheelbarrow of fruit and veg arrives in the porch most days, in return for pork or lamb next time we take animals in for slaughter.  Five a day works.  Twelve a day works better!
