Dutch Bantam laying?
« on: August 14, 2009, 11:42:01 pm »
I was lucky enough to be persuaded into taking 4 dutch bantams 3 weeks ago from an old guy who wanted to clear his chooks because they were getting too much for him.
They hadn't seen much of people and are quite timid but getting friendlier every day. Their previous owner said that they were this year's hatching but couldn't tell me when they hatched. The cockerel seems to have just learnt how to jump on his wives this week, so I guess he's maturing but the girls haven't started laying yet. The breed info online gives a lot of conflicting info on when and how much they lay. Does anyone out there have dutch bantams? Do you think that I will have to wait for spring for an egg? and do they lay very much or not?
