Here are pictures of most of the birds that I've bred this year.
 
 
I managed seven Light Sussex pullets.
 


 


 

And about the same number of cockerels that come with the bonus that the rejects are tasting lovely.
 


 

I hatched six chicks from a full tray of Welsummer eggs that I bought on our trip to Hereford. I think that the quality of the birds that I got from them has made up for the lack of quantity.

I don't know if you remember, but at the beginning of the summer, a guy who was giving up on poultry gave me four Anconas and since then, I've become mightily impressed with the breed. They're cracking little layers of brilliant white eggs.
 
At this time of the year, I let them out at around 4.00pm most afternoons and here they are at liberty this afternoon.

Well whot a harvist the stock looks very good the Sussex look very good are they a utilatey line .I bet you are pleased with them at carlile there were 2 light Sussex that dident win first prize that should and cheap price .

The LS are very much a utility line.
The first ones that I kept were very good layers and then I improved them in the looks department when I got some eggs from a friend in Cambridgeshire. She told me the other day that her parents got their original stock a long time ago from Chatsworth House.

My new Ancona cockerel male has just been delivered. His full brother was awarded best Ancona at The National Show yesterday. I've been lucky to get him and he looks pretty good to me, considering that he's just spent almost two days in a cardboard box..
Karens decided to call him Hank, so here he is, Hank the Ancona.

My light sussex emily is always bathing in dust and is therefore a very light grey.  These are absolutely beautiful!!
