all the above invasion of our privacy , has been committed under the name of terrorism  !!!! What that report doesn't tell you is that if you are investigated under these laws , you are on the anti  terrorist list !!!! No doubt there will be many who say .."Well I am not doing anything wrong !, so what harm can it do ?" , you will be on the anti terrorism list forever !!!  No harm done ... till you apply for a job , try to work in security , try to work in child care , foster or adopt a child ,or even try to live in another country !!! maybe even try to go on holiday ??  Oh and by the way ALL those 14-1500 requests ? of SPYING per day, were granted !!

That, Annie, is the whole point !!!! either there is anything upto 500,000 terrorists in the UK or the whole system is being abused by the councils , the police and the government. This is all being done under anti terrorism laws !!! Are we ALL terrorists now ? It is all based on presumption of guilt and is
surveillance gone mad.

cheers

In legal terms it's known a 'colourable device', it's when you use a law meant for one thing, to do something completely different, or to serve a purpose other than that for which the legislation was intended. happens all the time my friends. With great power comes great responsability (should also include great accountability).

Sorry if I am being thick - that article says the following
Quote
Councils, police and the intelligence services asked more than 500,000 times for approval to access private email and phone data.

Each one allows public authorities access to communications data - which includes records of phone, email and text messages - but not their content.

So if the authorities can't view the content how can any of it be incriminating and what use is it to them?

So why isn't the crime rate up?  I'm sorry but I just don't get all this doom and gloom stuff.  I put all my misfortunes behind me as soon as they happen and I don't go looking for new ones. As far as I am concerned this is a great country to live in.  If something bad happens to you, you can't 'unhappen' it so you get on with the next bit of your life.

Make no enemies and you don't need to watch your back either.  I don't stress about things now.  I sometimes panic temporarily but then the sensible head comes back.

1984 was a warning - not a blueprint!
