Eli our pet wether who we adopted from 8 hours old has a urethra too tiny for him to pee through.  DH has been at the vets from 2 hours now and the only option is a cystotomy (where the urethra is diverted so he wees like a girl).  The cost?  In the region of several hundred (£500 ish).  I just cant justify this expense as there are no guarantees of his living a trouble free life afterwards.  He's at the vets now and a decision has to be made now.

life will get better, im sure of it. lots of things went wrong for us a few years back in a similar way to you. i thought our farm was cursed. but you will get through it.

So sorry  - its a hard call and only you can make it, but I think if he was mine I would have to say no to the op and have him PTS.  But its easy to say and not so easy when its you making the decision.  I don't envy you, but which ever way you decide I am sure it will be the right way
