Do you all know about ABE Books?
« on: September 05, 2013, 05:54:53 am »
If ever there's a book that I need or fancy getting, then I always try this website. I've used it for years and more often than not, I've managed to save myself a packet. Its also extremely useful for getting those out of print books too.
All you need is the author and or title. :farmer:

Is there a book you fancy? Give it a try, apparently there are over 13000 book dealers who have their books catalogued on the site.

Yes, I've used this for years too. Very good for sourcing smallholding / homesteading type books from the USA that you simply can't get over here.

Good shout Bodger!

Yes, they're great for rarer books! I'd been considering to sell some of my preloved gems on there but the charges are quite high compared to amazon.  :&>

I was prompted to make sure that people knew about ABE after seeing this post from Bionic.  I'm not getting at Bionic by the way, I wouldn't dare.

I let my fingers do a bit of walking and found most of the books not just a little bit cheaper but often many times cheaper on ABE and that's after the 15% discount offer.

I've never sold on ABE but much to my wife's disgust, I do keep buying, buying, buying and then occasionally, I do a bit more buying. ::)

Another source of low priced books is World Books. There are a lot of ex library books on there and the postage is free. Worth a look.

I know what you mean! Third year running I'm trying to stick to my new year's resolution - no more books until the ones I have will fit on the shelves (as in until I've read a lot of others and moved them on ;) ). Now they come in for free from friends so much faster than I can read them! I still buy the occasional one for other family members which still end up with me  :roflanim: :&>

My shelves are full of farming, smallholding, cider, cookery, poaching, hunting and fishing books.
I used to like the 'Through the Keyhole' TV programmes and I was always especially interested when the camera panned across the householders library. I think the books on your book shelves, or in my case, under my bed and in the bathroom, say an awful lot about you. :o
