Oh right , i'd check that out before doing it Sandy . I only do tinned fish , but i had heard it was best to use fish as fresh as possible after catching .
Salting to preserve fish i have heard of , and tried it . I found it inedible , but i am not a big fish eater .
Be interesting to see if any sea fishermen know what is what .
I'll stick with my tinned mackerel , sardines and pilchards anyway lol .

Our local B&M had tinned mackerel in oil and slid in oil for 36p a tin, we  bought loads as we give them to the dogs some times, now they  have them in tomato and not much more expensive, they have all gone now but it was such a cheap form of protein, B&M have some great deals like that....Some one on  here suggested the salt on the cod, last night my husband came back with loads of fish from Tesco, all very very cheap, so first it will  be fish pie with mash top and then fish cakes!! Fish is so quick and tastly we love it and eat loads.......we had rainbow trout a few days ago, 3 for less than £2
