WINDOWS 8
« on: August 29, 2013, 06:41:16 pm »
My daughter just got a new laptop, she thought she could work it out but is utterly frustrated. Is there a way to get it off and Win 7 put on without too much expense? Laptop was bought at Argos, so not going to happen there....I was thinking of getting a new phone but I also hate Android. What's the lesser evil? Win 8 or Android - despair all round!!!  :&>

I absolutely love my windows mobile phone which runs on windows 8

However, I absolutely detest the main computer which we bought a few months ago. It is terrible to try to find your way around and everything seems to need another program bought to run it
Hate, hate, hate it. My in-law has a disc to change it to windows 7. Roll on the day it is done. Microsoft have failed big time with this.
Ask around. There seem to be a few discs around for programming in Windowsn7.

now there are random voices coming out of it - she's not making it up, I could hear them talking! Trying all scans now to get rid of whatever that is....she only dowloaded programs from filehippo, AVG, safer networking and skype. I'm at a loss... :&>

My sister has a windows 8 laptop and she was getting voices in the background, turns out there was still an internet page running in the background playing a video  ::)
I spoke to someone and they said if you buy a windows7 software you can downgrade a windows 8 laptop

yes, I read about pages running in the background. We checked the task manager but there was nothing...so we'll keep searching for the ghosts! I still work with Win 7 on my Vaio. It took a while to get used to at the start but really is an improved XP. 8 is just rubbish. Let me know if you know more how to get around it if possible. Did it cost you extra, dbe, to buy 7? :&>

No - thats the thing - I didnt buy 7 - its still running on the Windows 8 it came with but the guy who set it up for me said something about you can set it to run with a window 7 lookalike interface.  He is not coming again until Friday, but I will ask him then

I am liking the machine more and more, especially now I can type a bit faster and not keep putting the Caps Lock on instead of pressing "a" :excited:

I got lost on mine today and got into the dreaded "apps" "charms" or whatever they call them, but I just clicked on the Vaio thingy and hey presto back to where I needed to be

I know everyone says they cant see how to close it down, but it doesn't really seem to be necessary.  I just close the lid of the laptop and it goes to sleep, ready for instant action when I open it again.  Or you can press the on off button on the laptop which does the same thing

Also if you head the pointer towards the corners of the screen it give you various options.  OK you may already know all of this, but I enjoyed myself :excited: :excited: :excited:
