Gutted. One dead Ryeland ewe

Checked on my sheep this morning and found one standing up but didn't want to move. Brought her down into shed to have a look as her. She didn't have a temperature, but was salivating. Called the vets, but before he arrived she started having what seemed to be mini fits and then just died. She had been fluked & wormed recently and had her yearly Heptavac P plus before lambing. Any ideas. :thinking:
We did have a spaniel on the land yesterday that killed one of our chickens, but I don't think she was anywhere near the sheep.

Aww, Karen thats sad. Your ewe and my pig. We are both having a hard time of it  :bouquet:

We haven't got anything poisonous where the sheep were, had a good look around just in case, but I have never found anything on my land in the past.

I have moved all the rest and am hoping it was a one off. It's just so annoying as she was only a young ewe who we lambed for the first time this year. :(

Maybe someone else will come along with ideas on what disease it might be, if not poison - we don't have much disease amongst our sheep  :fc:  so I'm not up to date with all the symptoms.
 
Was it goosepimple who lost some Ronnies and eventually found there was a small sprig of rhododendron lurking in the pasture?     We once lost a ewe to rhubarb (oxalic acid) poisoning - didn't think they would be interested in it.

Was she still feeding her lamb(s) ?  It might be hypocalcaemia, though they usually lay down with neck outstretched before the fits with that. I lost a poll dorset ewe suddenly like this in June.

we lost a couple ewe lambs to something similar vet didnt know what it was and been on same land 8 years never found any poisionous plants ect in whole time but checked again, seems abit odd as vet wont sure either, New virus or something maybe????????????
