Just wanted to share, as I am so proud of him, that my amazing little 75 year old father in law is home 5 days post triple heart bypass.  The hospital staff nicknamed him the whippet partly due to his stature but mostly due to his speed of recovery.  The physio went in 2 days post op to encourage him to walk a few steps to his room door only to be met with the comment "Thats not worth getting out of the chair for!".  FIL then proceeded to march down the corridor with a gobsmacked physio in tow.  We keep having to remind him that whilst he feels reasonably ok, albeit a little sore, on the outside with three 1ft long healing incisions, he needs to remember his internal healing too i.e. no working.  I can see we are going to have to shackle him to prevent him coming back to work on the barn conversion next month.  Champion heart bypass patient.

Reminds me of when my dear old Mum had her hip replaced. Once she was allowed to walk, they had to take her zimmer frame away from her 'cos she was walking too far and too quickly.

My 86 year old Aunt is of the same ilk.  Doesn't drive now, but after two knee operations she walks down to the village for her groceries, has them delivered, then takes the bus back up the hill, and she takes the country bus into Aberdeen every week for the Recitals in the Music Hall.

She still does her own garden too, and has time to knit and sew for Cancer Link in Aberdeen. She is amazing, just like your FIL.
