I bet she wishes that you could say the same about me. :roflanim:
Jen has seen her shawl and loves it. Karen has found one dropped or broken stitch/knot and will be fixing that this evening.
Karen started a knitting group in the local pub a couple of years ago. They call themselves 'A Close Knit Community' We live in a holiday area and at this time of the year, the pub is absolutely heaving, so the ladies all meet for a knit, a chat and a drink in our conservatory. I always make myself scarce and I'll be disappearing tonight too. :farmer:

I have just started knitting a silk shawl.  Never done anything so fine in all my life.  Used to double knitting at least!  Your wife's shawl has inspired me to do something like it, so thank her from me (although my other half may not thank you!  :innocent: )

Pictures don't really do it justice - it is so light and soft and flimsy since it has been washed and dressed.
Here is another picture with a better background than the multi-coloured quilt

Amazing, what an achievement and what better reason to take on such a monster project!

I originally wanted to reply by saying if I'd been 'away' for so long doing something like that I don't think my DH would want me back!

But I do not have the patience or attention span for something so intricate, nor do I finish many projects, so it's a real hats off to anyone that can

Beautiful, a real labour of love, has it been knitted in the 1 ply web yarn from the shetlands? Whereby you can draw a shawl though the wedding ring? And they used to peg the finished article onto the gorse!

I managed a small christening gown a few years ago and it was a painstaking business!  It looks like a traditional pattern as well, any reference to the pattern would be gratefully appreciated although I understand that this may be a trade secret!

All the best for the celebrations and may the sun shine on the shawl and the wedding ring

Mrs Bodger, take a few

We are in awe - that is a beautiful shawl and you are one talented, dedicated lady.  Congratulations, and best wishes to the lucky couple.

That is stunning, well done, she must be thrilled after all the patient hours working away at it. A Shetland ring shawl is on my bucket list too, if I ever get my life back. I found a great book in a second hand shop with traditional patterns in it but they are challenging, she has my greatest respect.
So is this to be her veil or just a wrap? I love the tradition of wearing these as a veil and then as a christening shawl for the babies afterwards.
