At long last I can have my wife back
« on: August 01, 2013, 08:32:20 pm »
Our youngest son is getting married in six weeks time and for the last few months my wife has been knitting an heirloom shawl to go with our future daughters wedding dress.

She's just doing the last row!
Her words not mine. I now only have to take out the (pink) waste yarn from the provisional cast on so that the cast on stitches are live again and then I have to kitchner stitch the beginning and end together.

Then I have to find some mild soap to wash it with and block it to it's final shape and size - more photos to follow.

That is beautiful
Brings back memories of my first sons shawl from my mum. Only used on very special occasions and packed away now.
Your shawl is so well detailed and looks time consuming, a true heirloom. Are there any babies on the agenda or is it in preparation?

What a wonderful thing to wear on your wedding day. She must have loads of patience. Looking forward to seeing the next lot of pictures.

Here it is. Yesterday it was washed and then pinned out on the lounge floor.

Wow!  That is just stunning and how wonderful to know that it will be passed down your future generations.  You have a very talented OH  :knit: .
