My new puppy. I've finally managed to get a picture when she is not on the go.
She is 9 weeks old, is as good as house trained as she hasn't made any mess indoors. Comes when you call her name, and comes like a bullet when you whistle her. I think this girl is from true working stock, nothing seems to worry her not even loud bangs and especially not her big new sisters & brother.
Dad is Dargdaffin Gismo of three Valleys with Drakeshead bloodline as well and Mum has Dargdaffin four generations back. Both with excellent health results Dad 0/0 hips.
I think she is going to be one good dog. (That's my opinion for what its worth)
Her name is Native American and means dark Fox.

I've just rescued a 9 month golden retriever. Been in a loving, but totally clueless family in London, never had a pet before let alone a dog. She does not come when she's called. Or do anything else a pup should know. Am working on it, and looking for gundog training when we've got the basics sorted out - she tracks well instinctively.

I've got Golden Retrievers as well. One can be very stubbon, will do what you want eventually, but in her time. They need to be kept occupied so gundog training or even agility. Have you considered taking her to dog training classes for help with the basics.

I've just emailed Ingrid Grayling to see what she's got, ideally while I'm at home for the summer. My SIL is a dog behaviourist (unfortunately in Sydney,) and stuff I've learned from her, plus my natural inclinations, push me towards positive training, not aversive - so some 'village hall puppy classes' would just make me cross.

Got the clicker response set up, a recall in easy circumstances, made big progress with the resource guarding - she's doing pretty well having only been here 5 days, including adjusting from a townhouse in London to a smallholding, with other dogs etc. in Cumbria 

Is Tokala going to be a gundog or just a pet? That photo makes me smile every time I look at it - she is such a cuteness

No I didn't get her from Three Valleys, but Charlie was the stud dog and he is one hansom dog. He is a Dargdaffin dog, three valleys was added to his name when they purchased him.

I saw a pic earlier and think she is stunning, she would complete my beautiful pack of Labs, One Black, One Yellow and One Chocolate...so a Fox red would be fab...especially Tokala

Isn't it the blacks that carry the yellow gene? Put a look alike on your Christmas or Birthday list.
I know Tokala's Dad, Mum, Mums sister and two puppies from her previous litter are all this lovely Red colour.
I had a labrador for my 21st birthday many years ago and his name was Rusty, hence the colour. It has taken me a life time to find another like him.
Today we have been working on recall with gundog whistle   she is really good, just flat out now with the other dogs.

how do you breed a red labrador? what colour are the parents or is it just chance?
