so glad i joined here... my hens are in the garden scratching about in the rain and im panicking :-\  Glad to know its not just mine that are a bit nutty

Our large run has half the roof covered with clear corrugated sheets so they can stay dry. They always choose to scratch around the uncovered half getting soaked or layered with snow  ::)
