Trap
« on: June 30, 2013, 10:13:59 pm »
First up sorry for any mistakes as only got access from my phone
I am looking for a cage trap to catch a queen and her litter of kittens
I am staying at my sisters every night for the next 5 weeks and discovered there is a queen with a litter in one of the old barns
This barn belongs to the owner of the house and its full of junk
Leaving them isn't an option. As it will turn into a problem with feral cats everywhere
Mum is very hissy but not sure if that's being protective or feral
Kittens are about 3~4 weeks old not sure how many but def seen 2 gingers at same time and a dark one but heard others moving around
Any idea where I can borrow a cage trap ? Would think the kittens are young enough to tame and rehome

Any advice please
Graham

Ok advice needed if anyone can help.
I caught mum at 2am this morning, she is without a doubt feral  :o she has been transferred into an xl dog cage with bed food, water and litter tray she throws herself at the cage hissing and spitting if I go near.
trap is reset but the kittens have not gone in yet
How long before I start to worry about them having nothing to eat ?
They are def still about as seen 3 tonight

could you not put the mother inside a stable/shed and wait for the babies to go to her, then shut the door pretty damn quick? if she calls to them id bet they will find her. could you catch them in a blanket or a noose?

Or if the kittens are young, place mum in cage near their area with blanket over cage. Place trap or another open cage at front of the only uncovered end of mothers cage so they can see her. Food and bed inside. They may settle in the cage next to mum if they can see her.
It will probably be a night time catch as that will be their normal waking time.

Good luck  :fc:

The stable does not belong to my sister and apart from the door not closing there is several other exists.  I have got the cage in there with mum in it and the trap beside it in the hope the kittens will go in.
Just concerned about the lack of food with them being so young :-\

Mum and 3 kittens caught. There is still at least 1 more kitten as I have not caught a ginger and it was the first kitten spotted

Are you far away? If not too far I could come up over the weekend with gauntlets to try and help catch the remaining kittens. They'll not be that quick if still young.

They are in Alston , I now have 4 kittens so will see if any food goes tonight
there is a torti , a ginger, a black felix type and a black /white patchy one .
They are very hissy but not as bad as some feral kittens I have had in the past .
Mum on the other hand is terrible  :o
