Little chicks - big worms!
« on: July 24, 2009, 10:44:51 am »
I got 6 Scots Dumpy and 6 Marsh Daisy eggs off Ebay a few weeks ago.  I got 6 Scots Dumpy and 1 Daisy Marsh chicks out of them!

They're so cute!!

Last night I got a few worms and stuck them in their pen - they went mad for them!  Just wish I had the camera!

Well done, it is such a magic thing to see eggs hatch and then watch the wee creatures that come out grow, and they grow so fast. It doesn't matter how many times you watch an egg hatch it is amazing. Before you know it they will be running about outside with the others.

heheh!  Yep - they're in the spare room just now... a bit smelly... will have to get kicked out soon cos the lodgers (our friends that work with us for the summer) are coming.

They're so cute and I could watch them all day.  Funny how busy they are, even at a few days old!

I didn't hatch them myself this time, they went to a local pheasant farmer who did all the hard work!  Grampa's just bought an incubator though so hopefully next time we'll see them from start to finish.

I have to echo the person who wrote that chicks were one of the biggest wastes of time out!  My rate of housework had slumped to new depths since we've had chicks to watch.  I've even watched eggs for hours at a time to see if the crack was going to get bigger!!
