When to move piggie family?
« on: June 19, 2013, 10:27:55 pm »
Was wondering when it might be OK to move Flo and piglets back down to her ark? The enclosure down there is much better for keeping piglets in. The shed they are in now was built for sheep, not pigs. The little ones have already (at 3 days old) learnt to dig. If I leave them there too long, they'll be tunnelling out!

I normally move about the week old mark in the morning but you could move now, move flo first then all I do is gently pick up a couple of piglets put them in a bucket and tip them out near mum, be prepared to move, mum will respond to a squeal, it's built into them and has nothing to do with your relationship which when she has he family back return back to normal.

Agree, move mum first and then follow quickly with piglets in a large receptacle, drop them in by her and she'll snuffle each one to make sure its there, she may chase you or give you grief for interfering so beware, if its not far just let her out and they'll follow her guided by you and a board to nudge them along, no squeals then,
