Shear today gone tomorrow
« on: June 17, 2013, 12:19:48 pm »
Oh dear, had our sheep sheared yesterday for fleeces for the Highland Show and one of our Castlemilk Moorits has decided to jump ship after the shearing and has taken off to the horizon never to be seen again.  Our river is running dry and I think she's galloped her way up it to freedom.

She must have felt lightweight after the shearing and she's off  ::)  like a speeding bullet - maybe she'll come home one day ...... unfortunately for her she looks like a rhoe dear when she's naked ..... what's that I said about speeding bullets  :-\
registered soay, castlemilk moorit  and north ronaldsay sheep, pygmy goats, steinbacher geese, muscovy ducks, various hens, lots of visiting mallards, a naughty border collie, a puss and a couple of guinea pigs

I think that's what Amanda is worried about... someone applying a lead weight -from a rifle  :o

One of my 4 CM wethers had some shotgun pellets in the brisket area - I think you are right, they look too much like deer, especially at dusk or dawn.   :fc: she finds her way home to safety.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Noooooo - I ment the fitness type ones you get for around your wrist when your running etc - to weigh her down - but I see what you mean especially when they have their dark coats back

Hope she comes back to join her friends.

It is strange the colour change isn't it.  I couldn't find one of mine (Doug's) this morning, it was camoflaged in the shadow at the base of the oak tree.
