restless

Not long now then - ours went from 'I'm happy eating hay' to 'I'm not hungry really', through ' I want to be alone' till we got to ' Pusshhhhh!, Ah, that's over then, I want to wash and wash that little calf clean.'

Our original four cows get through it very quickly now, and the 2 second timers were quite rapid too- it's just the newbies that take a bit longer. Doesn't stop me fretting about all of them till the calves are safely here and bouncing about after their first feed.

Perfect description of a Shetland calving, Sue  ;D

Blizzard calved this morning. I checked her at 3am (I woke anyway) and she was fine. At 7am, she'd had a black and white bull calf (Charlie), who was dry and sleeping and she'd cleansed.

Bonny is bouncing around with her mum, waiting for her new playmate, while young Annie looks a bit shellshocked :-)

Pics (and possibly videos) to follow  ;D

what amazing markings. its great yours are born so close, much easier for weaning - mine are months apart.
