Woolfest
« on: June 13, 2013, 01:44:50 pm »
Hi,

I'm going to Woolfest for the first time this year  :excited: :excited:, and was wondering if there is a better day to go or are both days the same.
I have looked on the woolfest website and it is unclear if all the demos, fleece sale etc.are on both Fri and Sat. or one day only, can anyone advise please.

Regards
Sue

I prefer to go on the Friday in case the choice is less by Sat.  I don't buy fleece (too much to work through at home) but it could be that the best ones will have gone in the first day.  Also I like spindles and definitely want to get there early to have the first choice of those.  Last year I bought a pottery woolball holder and those were definitely in short supply.

So guess which day I'm going if I feel up to it  8)

Is the Sat perhaps busier than Fri too?

I don't know about any workshops but I expect they are well booked up.

That was what some people asked on Ravelry, that would there be less choice by the second day.

But the stallholders all said no, they split their stuff into two days' worth and put out a fresh lot of things for Saturday.

Lol, and then some of the more recent posters have said there is more choice on Friday.

Oh well, for myself I'm stuck with Saturday anyway.

I'd love to go but it's a bit far for a day out.  :( I loved Wonderwool in Wales.

Come for two!   ;D   Seriously, actually - a lot of people do come up and stay over Thurs thru Sun.

I'd love to know from people who do both Wonderwool and Woolfest how they compare?

I tel the shop as web unclear, and she said it is roughly the same fri and sat reg visitors and stalls, over 260 stalls, plenty food and toilets, lots to see, animals etc and lots to buy.Apparently lots of japanese and american buyers.Reg the fleece sale it goes on both days, people take along there fleeces upto 5 per person, and leave them with a price and people just come and look and if they want ,buy what they want. The seller pays a commision,or collects if not sold. She said people bring them at various times and some come fri and sat ,or just 1 day,so should be choice.Upto 600 last year. There are aslo stall holders with fleece for sale.We have booked and having a weekend away, but will prob just visit the feast on sat.

I would if I didn't have to get back for the goats. No one to milk them for me at the moment unless I board them out and I don't want the hassle or the expense for a couple of days. You'll all have to report back on what I've missed.  ;D

There is sooooo much more than wool, you can try different spinning wheels, as the main sellers will have some set up, all sorts of other fibre stuff (last year it seemed there was a lot about felting ?)... so a really good day out. (Buttons were really good too, all sorts of accessories...). Actually I think it is getting almost too big to do it in one day... but I cannot ask the OH AGAIN to milk for me (quite a few shows at the moment and going for a week to GYS later in JUly)

I am not sure that I will make it this year, though the kids are already on holiday on the Friday... so maybe I can take them... but haven't made a deal yet with the OH :-\ ...

My OH draws the line at milking. He'll do most of the jobs but for that.
