Rain and more rain
« on: July 19, 2009, 05:19:25 pm »
Its rained virtually non stop since Thursday, and its torrential.  An exact replica of last year, when it ruined our local two day agricultural show.  Such a shame as they moved to a new farm this year, and  the mud is as bad again. We took the ponies yesterday to the show, and the mud was horrendous, having to be towed on and off the field.  Today, the show was cancelled, as its rained hard non stop again.

Tractors had to tow horse boxes and trailers onto the field used to park boxes, and then we had to walk our ponies over to the main field for the show - and we somehow got our pony with hairy feathers on her legs over this mud without her getting dirty, yet my long boots were caked with thick mud.  It hurt me to see all the bales of straw that went down to make the field passable for the public to walk round - there was so much  straw, and within minutes it was a boggy mess again

One of my before so lovely planting containers has been flooded to the top because of a blocked plug hole and I'm struggling to rescue my drowning turnips  >:(

and they told us there was to be a heatwave this summer, so all the poor unsuspecting holidaymakers who decided to stay in this country this year are washed out, I really feel sorry for them  :-[, lets hope it picks up when the kids are off.

I just let my ducks and chickens onto the garden and let them hunt them for themselves. ::)

Seems to have been a slightly better weekend than forecast.  Dundee yesterday was just a light drizzle most of the day, but at Doune it chucked it most of the day, and carried on raining at night so the BBQ I went to was eaten inside!  Today at Heriot it was warm and sunny one minute, black and chucking it the next.

Well at 6am this morning the sun was splitting the trees here in Fife. However, not for long and now it is back to the heavy rain and high winds!!! What a great summer we have enjoyed - not.

I did try to go to Agility - honest!  But some of the motorway was flooded and I reckoned it really wasn't safe for me and Freckles to go running around wet grass. I wonder if Beth and Alex went?

We went, an mercifully the rain (mostly) held off for the duration of the class.

However it's back to tipping it down now.

It's the second horrendous summer in a row, oh for a bit of sunshine.

I just hope we get a decent run into autumn.

Well we are now enjoying the most horrendous thunder and lightning storm, not good for all the animals out side.

We had that in our porch a few weeks ago, the day I came to collect the Ducks, I was wet watching them outside etc then came in, had a shower and someone told us about the water, the porch internal gutter was blocked and it flooded the flat roof so came down the walle porch, all is oK now. Hope you sort  yours out, this morning our hot water went off so called out the plumber who was across the road and sorted it very quickly, not a good thing cold running water in a B&B

http://www.ratedpeople.com/ I've been told it's one of the better sites for getting tradespeople in, we are getting three different quotes this week so we shall see, I was told they cannot fiddle feedback so thats OK, a bit like E Bay, the site also gives you tips......we need tradespeople all the time, after you left I got the plumber in again, a quick repair job as something on the hot water switch had gone!!!!!
