WOW!!!! Where do you guys find the time to be so nice... amazing....

I belong to a few forums, shooting, fishing, filming and smallholding....i have met some pretty nice people on all of them...but this site is truly amazing...the amount of help and offers have been outstanding...

Our situation isn't  as easy as we would like... but then , it never is...i would love to explain, but thats not possible on a public forum....

we are looking for a barn to convert with PP and land...outbuildings would be nice ..and the price...well just lets say as low as possible (to start with)

When we looked (a good few years back) barn conversions always came with close neighbours, as the only way to make it pay was to sell one (or more) plots for newbuilds right next to it... and they never had more land than maybe 5 acres (were always meant for pony fields only). And that really put us off (and the costs of repairing barns too...) doing a barn conversion... we bought a building plot with field next to it and built our own house to our own specifications. Best choice ever!

Some of best bargins are rundown farms .... I agree with anke about the barn conversions .... often sell 3 adjoining barns separately and split land between them.. not ideal unless you like communal living.
Obviously dont know your budget but have seen a few at the 250 - 300K  mark

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

thats our problem... budget.... we have £150k very soon...which will turn into £320K ..in the end...
but we don't know how long that will take..

I don't mind getting a small mortgage...but would prefer to do things as i earn... I don't want to rush...but i don't want to just buy the 1st thing that comes along....we are more than happy to spend a year or two in a caravan..as long as we can be busy doing what we want to do... we don't need a big house..or the kids might want to come home  :roflanim:

i have no problems with others living around me..if they where all smallholders then that wouldn't be a problem..
but i can understand what your saying

we can only live within our means...i can always loose myself in a field
