Hello from bretange
« on: May 28, 2013, 08:02:57 pm »
Hello

I thought I would introduce us as I have posted before but with particular questions,
re: sheep, alls well and didn't lose any through quick decision making, it was good to
voice problems in English before I had to translate it to french at the vet too.

originally I'm from wiltshire and grow up with animals here and there.
At the moment we are a small family smallholding in central Brittany who spent a couple of years
gardening and having chickens, sheep/dorsets, some goats, ducks, ect.. in a try out
house that wasn't quite right. We then moved around the corner to an old mill with more
land and are starting with the animals again, at the moment, sheep, chickens and I have
started doing bees together with a friend. I am keen on the sheep and want to expand
them, and may be try out some pigs. we also have some woodlands and aim to set ourselves
up as a smallholding/permiculture influenced project.

I was wondering if there was anybody out there that knows of any good forums or interesting
info in France?

Hello and welcome from a sunny Somerset.

There are two or three people here who regularly post from France and I expect one of them will be along soon.

Hi from La Creuse (Limousin).
I guess you know of Anglo.info.com and that they have regional classified adds with an animal section. Check out their "giveaways" as there are often cockerals, goats and sheep given away in our area.

hello to all of you,

yes I agree it is a great site, a really good idea.

I am more looking for something smallholding/permiculture based magazines on local pasage rather than farming proper, maybe fetes of interest, exchange etc.. in both English and french. there are a lot of little projects in rural France in Brittany I know of several in this area but nothing that links them or any exchange with folks in England/germany etc... and I think a lot of those projects like little goat farms, and organic veg stuff for local markets are really great and the folk who do them work very hard but are offten a bit isolated, young and in need of a way to exchange and advertise. so if anyone knows of anything I would be really greatfull.

ohh its just started to warm up prop, about time ahe
