A lot of the time is spent getting there, getting set up etc, so usually theres a minimum charge of about £30 odd and then a rate per sheep, plus extra for travelling if theres a lot of that.

I pay £50 - that's been for between 5 and 7 sheep. Shearer has 20 min drive to get to us but normally ties us in with others in surrounding areas.

I charge £1/mile (one way) if more than 15 miles from me, and £35 for shearing up to twenty sheep.

I normally try to encourage customers with small flocks to talk to their neighbours etc to share the travel cost. If you can get the sheep all in one place, even better!

When we had a smaller number we used to get together with a friend and take them to their place as they had a nice building to use. Saved us money and the shearers time which kept them happy and keen to return.

£30 for the 4 very reasonable  :) I do have some clippers but my new  :sheep: are a bit too woolly for me to tackle

Daniel just did a great job on my little flock of 6 sheep.  Mine are a little wild, so take a bit of holding.  I felt it was a good price for the work needed and time taken  ;D

Now to figure out what to do with the fleeces

Round here, there is a minimum charge of £40 or £50 regardless of how few. But one local guy charges £5 a sheep

I'll see if I can get the contact details for the chap near Glastonbury who does ours. Not sure if he'd do 20 though, but it may be worth asking.
