Hi I love this website! We live on the Angus/Aberdeenshire border and have 3 acres. We are about to get a couple of lambs, some chickens and a friend's bees hive. I can't wait to start, and so far this site has proved very useful. All I need now is to find some orphaned lambs we can rear. Farmer friends are keeping an ear to the ground, but if anyone on here knows of any, I would appreciate knowing.  Thanks All bye for now Kerrey

i may be a bit far away(ayrshire) but i have 6 lambs for sale, there 6 weeks and feeding well and onto hard feed abit too but there very friendly and would be ideal for someone like yourself

I'm new to this and I don't really know how to reply to posts on a forum. I already got it wrong once, so I'm trying again. I hope it works..  Foster lamb farm thank you for your post. Your lambs sound ideal, but Ayrshire would be too far, as I have to get our local farmer to collect in his trailer, and I'm not sure he could spare the time to go all the way to Ayrshire. Thank you anyway. Hope you find good homes for them

Cade lambs will travel very happily in the back of a pickup    (Provided it's fully enclosed, of course )

Last year we collected one of our orphans in the back of the freelander.  Large dog crate lined with cardboard, so he didn't get his feet caught, straw bed and a few stops on the 150 mile (3 hour) journey to check, feed and water him (and us).  He snuggled down and slept most of the way.  Our others were transported just five miles by the same means.  Couldn't fit them in the back of the car now though!

Everyone else thank you for your input. I have a people carries to plenty of room, but thought there were animal welfare implications to carrying livestock in my car. Happy to travel, as I went from Aberdeenshire to Powys to get my puppy last year.

Very young lambs, yes.  Once they become a bit of a heave to lift, they will be better off in a pukka trailer  .  However you carry them, make sure they have something non-slip under their feet so they can keep their feet - and soft to lie on if they lie down.  Straw is good, but some slippery load liner thingies may need a piece of old carpet or something under the straw to give their teeny toes a bit of grip
