We have sheep
« on: May 05, 2013, 10:24:46 pm »
We picked up our first few Ouessant Sheep today (long day), they are fab and ours, just hope I learn quick.  After 3 hours of been in a trailer they just wandered out and started eating the grass, I though had stressed all the way about the trailer going over bumps or stopping and starting etc.

The place we bought were unfortunately very disorganised and the owner was rather difficult and miserable (serious biting of tongue), and down the worst kept road I have ever travelled.

They are all safely tucked up in a stable for the night.

If someone has a bad reputation why would you ever buy stock off them?

Unless, of course they have the reputation for being a grumpy bugger who produces exellent stock, which is different.... :innocent:

Not many Ouessants for sale within a radius I can drive in a day, I don't doubt the quality of the animals just I expect at least a smile from the seller.

We were really made to feel a nuisance.  Maybe it’s just me but we are all busy and maybe not as organised as we should be but a smile and a welcoming approach doesn't cost anything and covers a multitude of problems,  I am not good at holding my tongue in these situations and if it wasn't for another lady and young man who where helpful I may have left without any, but now we know why the owner (who is a vet), doesn't handle the sales.

They wanted us to buy some of their Alpaca's as well, there are many nice sellers out there so have no intention of going back.

All done though, we did come away with one less than we wanted so are on the lookout for another.

All very exciting. I think they have certainly fallen on their feet with you. Good luck with them and enjoy. Pic would be good when you get a chance.

Congratulations!  Hope you get as much fun out of your sheep as we do.
