Hello - been away for a while
« on: April 16, 2013, 09:00:05 am »
Hi all,

I've been busy recently so haven't been on the forum.  I managed to get 7 weeks full time work on the estate.  I was tree planting which was great fun; really enjoyed it.  I even miss it lol but I'm sure things will get back to normal.

Had some not so good news about my own work so have to really push it this year.  I was getting a lot of work through (most of it) an organisation but they have now decided to do it in house.  The weather also put paid to any grouse counts that I had so lost out there.  Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Bill, pygmy goat, is doing well with Dusty and never really missed Ben, the one we lost.  They are totally inseparable now and do worry if we lose either of them really as the other would be lost.  Still looking at getting another goat this year though.

Turkeys have started laying, as well as everything else.  Given a few turkey eggs away and will get organised to sell some.  My speckled sussex has started laying so will be trying to find out which ones are hers and I'll hatch some off.  I have promised my 4 year old son that he can hatch some light sussex with my speckled.  He chose the LS because he wants yellow chicks lol.

I also have my name down for a gwp pup.  The mating took place last month so waiting to hear if it was successful.  The lines go back to my old gwp so really want one.

All in all, things are probably just as busy but I do have a little bit more time in front of the computer now.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy

Welcome back, Helen.  Sorry to hear about your lack of work, perhaps if you remind us what that is you do someone on here may be able to help.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing photos of your GWP pup and have attached photos of my dear old Hester,

My grandchildren were holding a wedding between Rabbit and Hedgehog and decided that Hester should be the Lady Vicar.
A head study, John and his special pal, and her rear end as she pointed a phessie in our fields  ;D

If age was on my side I'd have another one to work.

Hello and welcome back from very windy Carnoustie

Love the pic of Hester as the lady vicar - she's more a strict headmistress in my head  ;D

Thanks all.  I do all things grouse......wormcounts, caecal pat counts, counting, radio tracking...pretty much anything to do with grouse.  I have got a few things up my sleeve so will see.

Hester looks soo like my friend's old wire, who is a Benreeda.  They are a fabulous breed.  I do have one but when this litter was planned, just couldn't resist another.

Well, spring has sprung cos everywhere has just started to look green in the past few days, rather than a dull yellow/brown...yay!

It's quite windy here but not as bad as oop there, from reports I've had.
