I have a 9 week old weaner who has picked up a cut top of back leg, on fleshy part close to her bottom.

Pigs only arrived a couple of days ago and still a bit wary of me to get close enough to take a proper look and wash it. She does not appear to be in any discomfort, is not limping and appears happy enough, although the cut does look quite deep and ugly.

Should I be worried?!

It's amazing how resilient they are and how quick they recover BUT you will need to get hold of her and you will need to clean it and put something on it ASAP to stop infection setting in.

Feed time is probably the best time to catch her - put her food down in the corner of their pen and take a board of some description (a bit of plywood would do) to shut her in the corner - have someone standing behind it incase she decides to jump over it 

She'll probably be more relaxed if you can hold both her back legs and 'hang' her upside down while the other person looks at the wound & cleans it. After cleaning give it a spray with antibiotic spray or wound powder and if it's gaping open you could stick a plaster on it to hold the skin together and help it heal a bit - but it might not be needed.

Act quick & she'll be fully recovered before you know it

I would say not to worry too much. Pigs heal very quickly, if you have some purple spray put that on her and she should be fine. The proper name of the purple spray has gone from my head but someone will be along in a bit with the name. I would have a look in the pen and see if you can find anything she may have caught herself on and get rid of it.

I think you mean Terramycin spray. You have to get it from the vet though. If you ring them they'll usually prescribe over the phone and you can pick it up
