i cant belive it
« on: March 28, 2013, 07:55:24 pm »
hi everyone i had a phone call yesterday morning off the chairman of the allotment saying the pigs wer down on the main road ripping the rubbish bags open in the street and i thought it was a wind up but when i heard them grunting behind i realised i had get make an excuse in work and get back to sort it out when i got there he had managed to get them back in the allotment main gates so all i had to do was put them on my bit of land. he saw the funny side of it as he had had pigs before but i was concerned that they could have caused an accident or been hurt themselves but some thing was not sitting right with me as i made sure they were locked in before i went to work and there are three gate for them to get through before the get anywere near the main gate which they would never get through.
so working in the secuirty industry i dont trust anyone as i see and hear everything bad on a daily basis in work so i decided to borrow a tempory camera from work that i borrowed the first couple of night s i had them to check how they were getting out set it up last night i hid one in the tree oppisite and one in the main area
when i went up there this morning i was halfway up the path and they came to greet me HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET OUT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
played the footage back when i got to work this morning and i could clearly see that one of the other members is unscrewing the bar on the gate letting them out closing the gate and screwing it back on so i have been dow to see the chairman with the footage and thay are going to call him in and speak to him this guy is 68 years old has a plot nowhere near me but for some reason either wants me to get thrown off or cause conflict between me and other people or for the pigs to get hurt i cant belive how stupid some people can be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flippin heck!! Some people are just spiteful, don't suppose he'd be so happy if they caused an accident on the road involving his family . Love to be a fly on the wall when he's shown the footage! Surely there is some crime being committed???

Public liability would be the minimum and prob the quickest to get sorted.

Oh and well done for catching the perpetrator on film, what did he think he was playing at? If he had an issue with the pigs he should bring it up appropriately not put the pigs at risk and try and get you into trouble. :-((((

My advice on insurance is always to phone the NFU - we have a weird situation, being a community farm with loads of members coming and going and helping out and they were fantastic trying to understand what we get up to and how to make sure it is all covered, Hope you sort your problem out too!

Hi Gavin,

That's terrible isn't it. Why the hell would someone do that. I was going to ask you how you were getting on with the pigs on an allotment. We were offered a space on our allotment to keep pigs but then I got the fear that someone might go and pinch them or hurt them. I never even thought of one of the allotment holders doing anything like this! It's certainly put me off of keeping them there. Although a security camera would be good, the old farts running the allotment would probably say it was breaching personal privaacy or data protection or some rubbish like that! Hope you have no more problems now you've got this guy.

I can't believe that someone would do something like that
Well done for getting proof  Hopefully this plonker will be given his marching orders  :fc: :innocent:

Glad the piggies are safely back in and fingers crossed they stay there now !

hi the pigs are getting on fine on the allotment as a few people there have even asked about borrowing them for a few days to dig up thier plots there has been no problems or trouble with anything  we all tend to help each other some time i go there and their water has been refilled by some of the menbers if they have tipped it so my experience with an allotment so far up to this incident has been really good

with regards to this person i have found out this morning that he had pigs on her 5 years ago but when the allotment committe found out he did not have a holding number they told him to get rid of them asap so he has always held a grudge. all the members have a meeting at the start of the month where new membership is to be renewed and i was told this morning that his wont be renewed and will be served with a 3 month notice to leave
i have been up there this morning and put the cameras where they can been visable seen along with a not so polite note on the door and a printout picture of him unscrewing the bolt so he knows I AM WATCHING

A few years ago I would have probably use a piece of 2x2 and thought of the repocussions later but one you get a little older have children you start to realise that dealing with it in a different way is probably best for all concerned. Now I think he will be more embarrased as his picture is up on the gate than me going after him like a bull in a china shop I learnt in the past that it will always come back on you

We have kept two lot's of pig's at our allotment's with no bother at all

It's amazing how many of the 'old chap's' either used to be slaughtermen or once kept pigs

Hope that you have no more issue's Gavin :relief:
