hi everyone, this is the first time i have bred from my goats, my 20 month old young lady molly had twin girls exactly a week ago everything seemed to go fine, birth straight foreward, two placentas deliverered, we even had the vet down to check her over as this was her first time of birthing and our first time too, he gave her a long lasting antibiotic "just in case", and some oxytocine to help shrink her womb and expell anything that was left if anything, a week on she still has a little bloody discharge, dosent seem to be in any discomfort and babies feeding and growing well,is this normal,just needing a bit of reassurance and if it isnt normal i know then to get vet again thanks, carol.

All normal, as long as discharge isn't evil smelling. And with extra antibiotic cover unlikely that she has metritis. So yeah, probably fine. This discharge thing can go on for a while...

I worried about this, then remembered I always worried when I had goats previously, starts about a week after kidding and I think it goes on for about a week, I washed my goats down last year in case there were flies about, don't think that would be a problem just now.

They can still produce discharge for up to 3 weeks after birth. As long as there is no smell, it's perfectly normal.

yes, all mine have a discharge a week after kidding - and then it gets stuck on the tail.....
