Yellow Legs
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:16:06 am »
Hi
Here’s another query for you all, if you don’t mind, we got all four chickens together and were told they were 18 weeks old; we have had them 8 weeks now, which should make them 26 weeks old.  They all had white-ish legs, and now 1 of the chicken’s legs seems to have turned more yellow and she is not laying yet, is this normal?
Many Thanks.

I'm not sure - but I have Sasso's and they all have yellow legs compared to my Light Sussex/RIR x's who are whitish.

My Jersey Giants have grey legs.

Obviously I am very new to this so probably am no help at all LOL

Regards
Ann

Were they sexed before you got them?  It may be a cockerel
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

are there combs very red and becoming developed this shows when they are ready to lay. if they are all the same breed and one has a diffrent coloured legs that may well be a boy. is its comb the same as the others if so its a girl.
