and been snowing most of the day.  The wind chill is awful up on our top land.  Not looking forward to morning.  Did the same last March,but we had a really bad blizzard, and people round here lost a lot of lambs.  Fingers crossed the little lambs can find shelter tonight.  The farm down the lane has a few lambs out, but they are in a low lying field.

Cold here as well.  We've had light snow and it hasn't been laying but I suspect it might overnight.  I had to fish the goat coat out again for my girl.

Our large German Shepherd has been wearing one of the goat coats.  Fits him perfect!!  I have had a fleece top, two fleece jackets and a bodywarmer on today, and was still cold.

i,ve fetched my january lambs back in as i cant cope with them out there, my march lambers are painfully slow, one on saturday, i had to dry me hair at 2 am because the snow was soo bad when i did the 2 am check on the barn , looks like being the same tonight.

It's absolutely awful here - definitely the worst of the winter. Mainly because it's blowing everywhere so the roads are blocking too as it blows off the fields. The thing that's really caught me out is that it's coming from the North East so all the poulty housing is orientated away from our usual prevailing wind of South Westerly and is now filling with snow. The goose shed is the worst and that's where the chickens normally shelter during the day - it's half full of snow now so I hope the geese will be OK overnight (they seem pretty laid back about snow though). I've had to bring my broody into the house because somehow snow was getting into her (I thought she was pretty weather tight) and she was refusing to leave the eggs to eat. My husband is still in London so no idea whether we'll see him tonight....

Goodness, I'd heard that it wasn't too good in the south-east but hadn't realised just how bad it is.  My famiy are all in the Hastings/Bexhill area so will be affected although they don't have animals to worry about.

Maybe I'm just being overly dramatic - husband has just waltzed in saying he was glad of the winter tyres but the worst section was within 200m of our house. Just watching the local news & seems the roads are not great in Sussex.

Looks like we are all suffering with this cold weather.  Today has been colder than yesterday, and with some heavy snow showers.  I can usually stand the cold, but really felt it today.  Our local weather station says -7  "but feels like -12" I can well believe that!!
 
Little Edward the goat kid seems to be coping with the cold.  Have decided to move him during this cold spell though, and he is in the large dog cage with plenty of bedding,  and covered up at night with a large horse rug ......hope he does not reach through the bars and chew it

Only a snow flutter here yesterday but wind chill was wicked...... I've awoken this morn to understand why previous owners put wool bags on water pipes in yard .... yes you guessed ..... only enough water for cup of tea came out of tap (well got the essential!).  Now drinking tea and pondering how to deal with pipes  .... outdoor plastic ones.

After raining solid for 24 hours it then proceeded to snow for 24 hours!!!


Just when I thought my land was drying out Im waterlogged again


Tried even digging in the polytunnel (you know work inside rather than outside when its cold) and 4 inches down its water!!!!

Talk about being thrown in at the deep end. We moved onto the land into what we thought was a winterized mobile (with double glazing and central heating) only to find it is a holiday home. A couple of days after moving in we ran out of gas when it was -6C. We came from a brick built house in the shelter of a housing estate. What a shock when we moved here.

But, it is lovely here, the views are fantastic. When we get the sun in the mobile 23.5C few days ago with no heating. We get the sun in the lounge all day!

Is it worth the bitter cold? Yes, I think so.

Blowing a blizzard here in Stokesley (n Yorks/Teesside border)this morning, real thick clumps, a lady i work with has come in from Guisborough and she said thet've got about 3".
