I read an article in the paper a couple of weeks ago about him, he could hardly breathe due to heavy smoking for many years. He had COPD like my husband.

The character he played in The Good Life was, I admit, an inspiration to me.  Partly because of the smallholding on a shoestring thing but also because of cocking a snook (lovely phrase that, don't often get to use it) at The Establishment.

He'll be remembered for The Good Life more than anything, especially by the likes of us, but he was a good alrounder.

The Good Life was, and still is one of my favourite programmes.  I daresay everything they did would be tutted at nowadays by the powers that be .....but, I think many of us envy the simple lifestyle they had .....maybe not having Margo and Jerry as neighbours in real life, though!!!

Wouldn't it be great if there was a re-run of the Good Life.  I would happily watch all the repeats.

Maybe we should petition the BBC.
