We normally begin lambing on 6th March but this year have slipped it to 25th to try and avoid SBV. I normally alternate the turnout field to minimise the worm burden and close it up at the end of August, so the ewes go onto a good bite of grass that's grown slowly through the Winter. My theory is that slow-growing grass has time to take up minerals - it's fast growing grass that doesn't take up enough magnesium and can cause grass staggers.
