I have two litters available - the older ones were all booked to go, so turned some buyers away.  Have been trying to contact the people who wanted them originally, and guess what?  Ignoring my calls, and e mails.

So, I have two male and one female of the older kittens.  Approx12 weeks old.  Two are white, with black tails and heads, and black spots on body.  One black and white with white face.  Off good mousing stock.  Previous buyers have said how pleased they are with their hunting ability.  Already off hunting with mum.

Second litter will be ready in a couple of weeks.  Not sure of sex yet.  Mum is long haired black and white with bushy tail, and kittens are looking like they will be long haired.  Two are jet black, and one is white with black tail and head and spots on body.

I am looking for £25 each to good homes. Prefer farms, outbuildings as they are used to living in farm buildiings. But are not feral cats, and are used to me, so would adjust to being a house cat I am sure.

Willing to exchange for poultry or even redundant rabbit hutches, small coups which I need lots of for my chicks etc.  Particularly interested in Pekin bantams, bantams, silkies,  or any laying hens.

Near Derbyshire/Cheshire/Staffs/S Yorks/ South Lancs areas.  Willing to meet halfway to save on fuel if you think you are too far away  - thats within the above areas of course!!!!

Obviously different in other parts of the country - kittens are being sold in Central Scotland for £50 due to the policy of neutering most cats at a young age.

   Ah, round here there are none to be found.....I wish I had kept the telephone numbers now of the people I turned away.  I sold three from the older litter for £30 each with no problem.  Look on the preloved board, and you will see mine are way under price.  There is a farmer near us who puts out a sign selling his kittens for £25 and he says his phone never stops ringing - I tease him that the kittens make him more money than his farm stock.

Going off subject a bit - earlier this year I was in Hong Kong. Here, they have LOTS of pet shops and over there they are allowed to sell live animals and they have cats and dogs for sale in the wondow. To me it's very sad to see - these animals are in tiny small cages and often over crowded. However, they were all kept very clean but when did they ever get walked or human contact. One thing our country got right banning the sale of cats and dogs in pet shops. Luckily one day too they will prohibit the sale of rabbits, hamsters etc. and cruelty to these animals will be hugely reduced.

I have no wish to make any money out of the sale of these kittens.  By putting a price on them, I am hoping that it will help ensure they go to good caring homes, thats my priority. I did refuse to allow a couple of the kittens to go to unsuitable people.  One man was drunk, rang up late one night and said it was for his daughters birthday the following day. In other words he had forgotten to buy her something and was going to give her the kitten - well he was told NO. 

I have 16 farm cats - split between two farms, and all live outdoors none in the house.  All my females were speyed as were the toms, nueutered. People keep dumping young females here I am sure, and they are all ready to have kittens.  Once these kittens have gone the mothers will be off to the vets, and hopefully no more kittens.

I spoke to our local farmer the other day as I have lost one of my cats.  He said that most farms in Scotland don't have cats any more since although they kept the mouse and rat population down they also poo'ed and pee'ed in the grain.  If you had been close to me I'd have had one of yours as my other cat is missing his sister.

   Yes, they probably see all the cats lined up on the wall morning and night waiting for their food.  And see I am a big softie!!Its quite a sight when they are all together.  There is a big entire ginger tom, who has also made his home here, and settles down in the hay barn most days, and another black and white tom.  They get along well enough, which surprises me the way toms fight.

I agree JL, I hate to see live animals for sale, crowded in small cages. I didn't know the sale of cats and dogs was banned in Pet shops - can only be a good thing.
My first ever trio of ducks came from a pet shop in Tottenham !! Must have been about 8 or 9 at the time, and remember thinking even then it was wrong. Didn't take long to convince my Dad that they needed to come home with us and live on our pond !!

Back on topic, kittens in this area are around £50 in the free ads paper (and thats for a farm moggy) - anything fancy is £100 plus. Mine are all waifs and strays that have found me

The farmer we get hay and straw from has a lot of farm cats- including 7 breeding females. He too only charges £25 each, when they would sell for £50. He charges only to make sure they go to people who will look after them.

Annie- he had some kittens last time I was in a few weeks ago. One was very like my cat Mitzi who died in February- I was tempted, but 2 cats is enough.

I am still coming to terms with Candy not being here, but if she hasn't turned up in the next few weeks I will have to assume she is either dead or has found a new home (unlikely in my opinion as she was always so cuddly with me)  That being the case I'll ask you to see if your farmer friend has any kittens coming soon.  I would want a female but would have her neutered.  I'm going to France in July so will maybe think about it when I get back.

Im sorry to say your wrong there Jameslindsay, pets shops are NOT banned from selling cats & dogs, what the groverment did bring in is a licence, so now every year pet shop owners have to apply to there local council for said licence and list the types of animals they wish to sell (ie..cats, dogs, small animals, birds, fish etc etc) you will then be inspected by the enviromental services to see if you meet the conditions for the sale of said animals.

The reason you dont see many pet shops selling cats & dogs are that the licence conditions (and quite rightly so) are very high and most shops cannot meet the floor space required alone let alone the other requirements.

I sold kittens in my shop and yes during the day they were in there pen which was (8ft x 8ft  far more than required by licence) in the shop but what you didnt see was every night/weekends they would come home with me and live in my house as part of the family. Most of my kittens came from unwanted litters whos owners could be bother to have there cat spade and would threattern to "get rid" of them if I wouldnt take them.

In all honesty I dont think I made one penny from all of my kittens, infact pretty much made a hefty loss after forking out for vets bills, wormer, flea treatment etc etc and they all went to home checked homes & certainly went out in far better condition than they came in.

I know there are some pet shops out there that do the bare minium for there animals and should be hanged at dawn, but please dont tar us all with the same brush

Sorry Maddox, I did not think I was judging any one, I was making a statement of my beliefs. Ofcourse for every hundred rogue traders in any line of business you will get many more those that are good and I am sure your animals apprciated your dedication. My apologies for getting the info wrong about pet shops not being to see cats and dogs but even going into "Pets at home" makes me cringe when I see their rabbits on sale. My beliefs are that no animal should be stuck in a small space day after day and then sold onto Joe Bloggs - no vetting, no home checks etc.
