Question 1) I bought a ewe lamb that isn't on a heptavac system. How do I put her onto the system to fit in with my ewes who are due for there jabs in a few weeks?

Question 2) Is there an age limit to put ewes onto the system?

Question 3) I know on the bottle it says to do the boosters 4-6 week pre lambing, but when is the best time to get the lambs fully covered or does it not matter as long as its within that 4-6 week period?

Answer 1   inject her now and then again in 4-6wks time this will get her in line or inject when you do the new lambs and pre lambing next year .                                                                                                                    Answer 2 no any age                                                                                                                                                                                       Answer 3  If i read it correctly, to give the new born lambs the best cover 4 wks before birth is good , but since you can't know exactly when they will lamb you have to do a best guess.  If you raddled your ram and recorded the service dates then you will have a fairly good idea of lambing dates, you can ask your scanner, if you use one  for potential lambing dates

Q1: If the ewe has not come with Heptavac you just put her onto the system with the double jag as soon as she comes to you, as you would otherwise do a lamb in summer.
 
Q2: Not as far as I know, any sheep that come onto my holding where I am not sure if they are on Heptavac get the double dose.
 
Q3: All my ewes get their booster and then I assume that the lambs are covered till the youngest is about 8 weeks old (oldest one is usually about 12 weeks by then)  when I do the first injection, 2nd one 4 -6 weeks later. Then I normally give any lambs that are still around before the next lambing time a booster at the same time as the ewes pre-lambing. Also don't forget to booster the tup (and any friends he has with him) at the same time too...

 The timing when you do your new lambs is up to the individual,   based on the mother being injected at the right time and the lamb getting the correct amount of colostrum then cover varies from 3-6wks for each of the eight bugs covered , pneumonia seems to only last 3wks.

I'd heard that the 'p' part of Heptavac doesn't last that long in a fully grown ewe either. So I don't bother now and use Bravoxin instead.

                                                                                                                                                             Thats ok if pneumonia is not a problem, the recommendation is to inject every 6months if pneumonia is a problem
