Whops,  just read posts and hope know one thinks my brother would shoot a dog, no way on earth would he or any other family memebers....although my father in law would have, he was a farmer and like others have said, to him the dog would otherwise have been taken to the vet and PTS.....best way in his eyes..hes been long long gone so no good going to police about him
I hope the dogs now rehomed,  have a friend that would re home him if he was up here...but too far away.

Sorry to have hijacked the thread!  I hope the dog finds a home - I would love to have it, but live in the muddiest, boggiest farm in Dorset - and we all know how muddy spaniels get.....!!

Hi the dog is still tucked up in the kennels with the others for now. As season is at a close and gk is a bit soft in his old age I should think he will stay there for a bit. Unfortunately though working dogs are costly and there is no sentiment so for those of us that keep dogs for work and mainly as pets this seems harsh but the reality is if the animal cannot fulfill it's purpose there is sometimes no choice.


I will update if I have Any news as there has been some interest.

....just read previous post and he is very short coated so actually wouldn't get too muddy. I have great towelling jackets for mine to dry them off.

I know of someone who has recently lost their dog. Very experienced owners with big garden, live in country village. I think they were starting to look for another dog- would have to be good with visiting children though. CAn ask if they would like to know more about him? They are in Devon.

That would be great funky fish. He will be fine with children I think and we'll socialised. He was very good when he met my dogs

There is no reason to kill a healthy dog - someone somewhere will take it in.  There are quite a few spaniel rescues, one I have already mentioned.  Scotsgirl if you become worried about this dogs future please pm me and I will get you lots of contact details, lets ensure a happy future for this liitle dog.

How old is the dog? Is he docked? I might be interested (though it's a long way away)

I will try and find out tomorrow how old he is and registration info. He is docked and been in working homes. Original owner has given up most of his shooting I believe and wasn't the best at looking after his dogs. He is very biddable when out with the pack I think he just gets carried away on the picking up and forgets to stop.

Any clue as to how he is with cats.. Another awesome home has come up- very experienced with spaniels, but she has cats..

for god's sake whats wrong with people??  just take them to the vets to be peacefully pts!!!  is £25  too much for a dog who's devoted their whole life to you?
