Daisy is going to the billy tomorrow and wondered if we need to do a movement document for her? She's only going for a few hours  and its not that far away so will be back the same day.

I think you will probably have to complete one. By taking her off your premises and onto someone else's there is a risk of bringing Infection back and so you will still have a standstill .


Having said that as goats tend to be housed differently and it is a quickie maybe it will be different. The goat experts will give you better advice.

Yes, you should complete one for each journey.

Unless there is an exemption that I am unaware of (likely) then unless you friend has an approved isolation facility then you cannot do a day visit. The movement need to be accompanied by the movement licence, and it will trigger a six day standstill after which you can bring her home again. The movement home also requires a movement licence and will trigger another standstill.


I don't know if AH/DEFRA would ever check, but I am wary of not reporting movements to the billy as if asked about it, how do you explain the sudden emergence of kids in 5 months time? AI leaves you with paperwork, a sly visit to the billy doesn't


This is why my girls go for a whole month, otherwise with 4 of them I would be on standstill for ever

I've checked with Scottish Govt website and as far as I can see, because the destination holding has its billies in isolation and as it is to be used for breeding does not trigger a standstill

but I can see the sense in doing 2 movement forms, one for each journey

It will trigger a standstill on your farm on your return if you do not have isolation facilities. Just fill in two forms one for the journey there and one for the journey back, and put "move for mating" onto it somewhere.  Never ad a problem doing it that way.

after reading through all the usual defra/scottish gov/samu/animal health etc thats what I figured Anke, I've done 2 forms for the journey there and back and then I'll have a standstill here when madam gets back, if she wants to come back after her romancing today

well Daisy had other ideas and wouldn't stand for the billy  , a day too late as her season is getting shorter so we'll just have to try again next time

I have done repeat journeys of 250 mile round trips before too, even though the dam did stand... it happens...
