Got a fab cookbook for Christmas
« on: January 14, 2013, 07:19:25 pm »
Hi
I feel like I now have had a bit of time to look through this book - Pig, Cooking with a passion for pork, by Johnnie Mountain and it looks very good
Have not had a chance to cook anything from it, but looks like it may be pork goulash on sunday :yum: :yum:
Does anyone have it and if so what are your favourite recipies?
Oh feel so hungry now :yum: :yum:
Pauline

I used to love looking at the pictures in cookery books, I rarely cook anything from a recipe now unless I am cooking a vegitarian dish......just me and him so not worth the trouble

I wonder if there's one called 'Goat.  Cooking with a passion for goat meat'.  I'd buy it if there was one.

MGM you will have to write it as there is an opening in the market there ;D
Padge, it is probably me being a sucker for nice pictures of food and tempting me :yum: :yum: But will now have to look up the Ginger Pig Meat Book!!!
I am hopeless at trying recipies from cookbooks without pictures! Mind you, then you see what the food was MEANT to look like :o

I've seen the ginger pig book in TK maxx in several places so you might be able to get it even cheaper than amazon price

Thanks LandM, but TKmaxx is like hell on earth for me :roflanim: I would have a 100 mile round trip to get there and go into a city :o :o  Now online - I can shop with the wood burning stove in the background and a glass of wine by my side - much more civilised   ....and think of the diesel money I would save :innocent:

not sure if it is in the pig book but we had  fresh pigs kidneys available tonight and pan fried them with shallots, mushrooms, mustard then added cream. Served with rice and stuffed ourselves!!
Hope that you have it in the receipe book and I can recommend others to try it. :excited:

i recieved a fabulous book for christmas, 'the complete nose to tail' a kind of british cooking by fergus henderson of st john restaurant.

it is simple and proper cooking, including loads of useful piggy stuff.
