I have touched on this before, I have posted on my Facebook too but I need a new outdoor coat, I see tons I love on then net but fit varies so much so I would prefer to buy one localy, only because I have no money in the bank but some pennies (lituraly) in my piggy bank......
So, apart from the garden centers like Dobbies, nothing wrong with them just want some more choice, also been to the some animal feed stores but not many, they are on my list, so any one know of good shops with a nice range. I loved a place just outside stirling, some estate made into posh shops, it was wonderful, I bought boots from there (had to lie about the cost to Mr)
So, any ideas peeeps

Hi Sandy,
Is it something tweed you are after or just something waterproof, if waterproof try mountain warehouse, they seem to have stores everywhere, I can vouch for the waterproof coats and leggings they sell, you just have to make sure they state that they are waterproof and not just showerproof, the ones with removable linings are also very warm.

try grantown-on-spey, it has shops like that there. never been in but the last time we went through, people were wearing tweed knickerbockers and gilets to go to paper shop...lol

Thats it womble, its wonderful.....I may just go back but it was so quiet i felt I just had to buy someting ,
I need something more specific, my daughter had a Deerhunter coat that I have seen on the internet and that I like, I love greens and browns so really want hunting stuff, not tweed or knicer bockers    I would look a bit silly walking the dogs in them
I have a few things from mountain warehouse, yes they are good......I will shop around

I did get a wax coat, new one but no hood, its only a cheap brand and fits but I  need something better, I now have several new charity shop coats,,,,,   bit too small    but lovely...I must get back into them, one thing I love is 2 way zips, I  had my one way zip done up and cannot get over fences or tree stumps, a 2 way one can be unfastend at the bottom for a bit of freedom

Sandy, try Bushwear on Glen Tye Road, Stirling FK7 7LH. Its on the industrial estate up past the BMW/Mini garage. An interesting wee shop, sells clothing/footwear, hunting stuff, also sells kitchen equipment/supplies for game, sausage machines/mincers and has a good collection of books. Worth a look.

Thanks, I saw that, the stuff was more money than I had at that time but thanks, I will go again when I rob the local bank ,
I have just got some new wellies from on line and they are muckboots but no where near the same quality as my old muckboots....they have lables and were from a proper shop but they seem cheaply made!! My old muckboots are OK with waterproof socks as they leak now due to holes from walking on large chippings in the forest.
We have a  bit of money saved but now no work, I may take a look and try some on at Bushwear as it was the stuff I was on about. THANKS

I got all my waxed stuff at dog shows.  Waxed jacket £15 4 years ago, still waterproof, never been re-proofed, complete with hood and padded arms as well as the body.  Waterproof trousers £12, again never been re-proofed, had them 3 years.  I do wear John's posh Thorlos mountaineering socks, as they were new just before he died, and I wear new lightweight walking boots for support,  and gaiters from when we went climbing. Works for  me.

I have an assortment of coats, current fave was £8 from a charity shop, now to me that's expensive  , its not waterproof but its thick enough for dog walks, my wax is waterproof but no hood so pointless as water drips down your neck, and I do not like the pockets, I want something a bit more suitable for purpose but I do get too hot, I also like 2 way zips so I can undo the bottom bit but still keep the top bit done up......
again, the internet has a great source of gear but never ever sure of the sizes.....I will pop out one day to explore all the above shops....we never seem to get to the country shows anymore, that's where Steve got his Agile coat from.....I found some leather sheepskin lined tuffie boots and so love them, tough and very comfy and warm and they did not slip off in the deep mud!!
