Hope it is all fine for them over there, though even to have friends who have lost their homes must be devastating.  Think of them and you ((((hugs))))

You are right, LL. When my son, then aged 30, rang me to say he was in hospital in Australia with a broken collarbone, I was all set to fly out there to look after him. If I'd had a passport, I may well have gone.

Sandy, I cant begin to understand how awful it is for you atm, but wanted you to know I am here for you.

I know, thanks, that's why I am so happy to have this and facebook to link into......my  youngest is worried sick too and wonders why both of her sisters have gone to live in such a risky place...I understand but so many things can go wrong, both daughters have had bad allergic reactions since being there too......I really hope to be able to go next year, let's hope they have a home left......I have been out with the dogs and all I could think about was them, not sure how well they sleep.....I worry about peoples pets and livestock as  you cannot get them out in a hurry!!

Had a rather worrying message yesterday that they were fine, lots of friends had lost homes and they had to stay put to put out the embers that keep getting onto their land..they back onto bush land......that sort of upset me and all I want to do is stay near the comp and eat cake!

There are some very hurtful comments on those blogs about why people stay beside the Blue Mountains when it is so dangerous.  I can understand people who have lived there all their lives and others whose families are well rooted there, but do you know why Rebecca and Amanda chose to live in that area?

Its beautiful, Amanda wanted to be near Sydney and like any major city, its more expensive, although Becks in Orange county, not too far away but there are smaller fires around there.....she wants to move nearer to that area, more work, more amenities! I can see why they moved there!

Not heard from Amanda for a while now but Beck is posting photos of the area and fire fighters back  burning......my problem is, this is only the start of the high risk time for fires.....I shall be a nervous wreck buy the time its there winter and our summer! :cold:
