Visitors are fine in small doses but when people come to stay at this time of year its a hard job trying to fit everything in. Weather makes any outside job take longer. Muddy boots, wet dogs, children bored, endless cups of tea and extra time spent in the kitchen cooking. But, the one thing I notice more than anything is the amount of toilet roll you go through when there are kids in the house. it just seems to disappear. I love having the family but now they have gone back home the peace and quite is bliss. Must be getting old right enough and turning into one of those Grumpy Old Women you see on the TV.

My ex and I once moved into a new-to-us house on 22nd December and his sister came for Christmas dinner.  To be fair, she did bring it with her - one defrosted turkey and some bags of frozen veg.
