Ok I know it may sound daft & soppy but which of you like me actually buy a birthday or xmas present for your pets (Generally cats, dogs & horses but other pets can be included) - I only spend a couple of quid on like a few different treats & a cheap toy or blanket & they love it it sounds daft but I currently do not have kids (Yet) so my dog & 2 cats are sorta my babies & I don't buy them 2 much just an odd thing like above so their not spoiled - to me its just a bit of fun & they really do love ripping the xmas paper off & playing with the toys like kids  - opinions please xxx

My dogs all get a rawhide chew and the cats get a catnip mouse each.

The outside animals just get food treats like carrots, apples and raisins.

If it makes us happy, why not? It's my way of saying thank you that they make all my year special

We have a stocking for the dog and one for the cat.

The chickens and goats will have extra veggie trimmings and the sheep like jacobs crackers.

As well as my own, my sister's dog, my nephews cats and dogs and my daughter's cat all get presents - not at birthdays though as we don't know the cats' ones and it would be unfair to give the dogs and not thecats

The dogs and cats here always behave so well through the year that Santa wouldn't dream of not filling their stockings 
Usually chews, a toy and new collar/ lead. Will see tomorrow what they get this year

I admit it - I got rawhide chews for my friend's dogs... The first year I did that it meant the dog was quiet for an hour, so we could eat dinner without being invited to play football - well worth it! 

None for my own cat, though.

As I am not with my children and grandchildren, the dogs are getting a few treats...I bought another cheap squeaky toy this morning and put the shopping down to open the back door an Rohan, our yellow Lab stole it

Didn't buy them anything but I've been saving some deer bones in the freezer for them, and they will also get half a turkey neck each.

A friend turned up with some home-baked cup cakes, made apparently to a dog-friendly recipe.  We thanked her a lot but binned them.  Our two don't need the calories and have sensitive stomachs: we don't want tummy problems on Xmas day. 


Have bought them so new tennis balls.  They play a hugely entertaining game of possessing the ball where each guards it from the other until a moment of inattention causes its loss.  Then the game restarts.

Mine have an extra tasty breakfast on Christmas morning but I don't buy gifts for them. I used to dog-sit 4 dogs whose owner not only bought them birthday and Christmas cards but POSTED them to arrive on time

I think that's going a bit too far.  Unless, of course, the dogs collect stamps and could add them to their collection.   

Our dogs get a sterilised bone each and spend hours licking the stuffing out of the middle.  The goats each had a Licky Thing which they love.

This year I did buy some drying coats, made by someone I know and some proceeds going to a dog rescue so not so bad and they are beautiful, I also bought some dog toys and my Yellow lab has been squeaking all day today and yesterday....funny and worth it, this is the first year I have bought anything other than dog chews...empty nest syndrome

Mine always get Christmas presents and know what they are and that they get them after everyone else has unwrapped theirs.  They are always delighted, with both the unwrapping bit and the gift.
 
They also get a helping of the Christmas Dinner, with turkey, stuffing, veg and gravy, and they get served at the same time as everyone, not just the leftovers, normally they have to keep well out of the way when food is being served.
 
I enjoy it, and they certainly seem to, I make sure I don't overdo it too much on the fatty side of things though as Great Danes can have ticklish tummies. 
 
The cat got a big slice of nice moist turkey breast as well
