List of Herd prefixes
« on: December 14, 2012, 08:35:58 am »
I am trying to compile a list of prefix locations eg VN is devon. Wonder if all you kindly people would let me know your two letter prefix and the location.    Edit to the above.  Could all pig people let me have their two letter herd number prefix and state which area you are in as well as the county, as Oaklands quite right pointed out that some counties have different herd letters for the different areas.  Many thanks for all this people, it would be great if we had a comprehensive list so anyone buying in a pig and are unsure where it comes from ie when buying at a market, this will really help

I'm assuming you mean the letters at the start of the herd number ? (not the BPA pedigree herd prefix)

Mines is LA and I'm in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire.

Would animal health not have a list they could give you ? Worth a phonecall  ;)

Given that there are so far three codes for different parts of East Sussex viz

Crowborough  SV  Framfield  SR  Rye  KF

You may need to re-think your Q and ask for towns and counties, as some are clearly subdivided, and not at all sure that they are on physical counties eg KF probably covers parts of east sussex and Kent.

Anyway would love to see how the list pans out - so hope others post theirs !
