Who's ready for xmas????
« on: December 05, 2012, 12:15:20 am »
Well finally for once I'm feeling pretty organised - all my cards are wrote out, I've bought all my presents except for maybe 3-4 larger ones & saved a load of money by doing a load of xmas baking stollen & mince pies & giving those as a load of gifts in baskets     (Mind you I was up from 9am-2am the next morning & cooked a roast as well  ) so was knackered, I've also delivered half my pressies & cards, got my xmas hat out for caroling, the goose is in the freezer & now just have to put the tree up have I missed anything yet? xxx

I love christmas but only had 3 cards to send which I have already done. Sent them from Bethlehem (Wales) so that they have the postmark.
Getting my tree this Friday.
I am going to my sisters for christmas but found out yesterday that OH's sister wants to come here for christmas even though she knows we won't be here. So now I have to cook full christmas dinner for her on christmas eve and then go to my sisters on christmas morning.
Ah well, whats better than 1 christmas?  2 christmases of course  ;D

Currently working my holey socks off making soap gift baskets as the shop remains open till 17th. Tonight is Young Voices concert at LG arena, Brum with my 2 middle kids, scarlett's nativity next week, middle 2 then have a xmas assembly and we have church/school events too.
Turkey? oh yes, better order one of them.
Xmas tree - oops forgot that too so far!
oh its chaos, thank the lord for wine.

I'm festering rather than festive so far this year  :( (I'm sure I'll catch up soon !)
Not organised at all, other than having the tree up and that's only cos I couldn't take any more pleading from the kids  ::)
I've got a big fair on Friday, so once that's past I'll be able to think about all things christmassy (oh, and Kaitlin's birthday - bad planning that one  ;))

Oh dear, I'm afraid I'm an old grinch...

Kids have flown, one in Austria and the other to in-laws.  We are going to Xmas lunch at my brother's, so we are going to manage to have a non-spenny Xmas this year thank goodness.

However, next year it'll be my turn for the lunch so I have promised I'll get back into the spirit by then!

fifixx, I am a  bit down this year,  I usually visit family in England, this year things are very different, 2 of my 3 daughters are now living in Australia  and the 3rd has no time to visit.. :( until after the festive period, jan, when we are suppose to get bad weather, by then we will be having some work done on the house, all the decorations will be down and we should be full!!!! No matter, I am not one bit upset .....(lies)
I live in Scotland and run a busy B&B, this year we have so many requests for accommodation over the Christmas period but we are refusing point blank, we are booked up till 21st so not too bothered, we can have a day buy the fire in our PJ's watching TV with the dogs, not forgetting a Christmas day dog walk!! AND this year I am giving the dogs lots of treats and having them with me all day by the fire!!
I have just about finished decorating the house, the Main tree is yet to be put up but I will be doing that soon.....so we are all glitz up for the guests and at least my husbands side of the family are coming on Boxing day.....that has given me a little boost!!!!
So, not much prep, I only send a card to my daughters and no one else!!! I will buy food in so not really anything different to do...arh presents, well as they are all away, this year its vouchers!!!!
I think we need a Scrooge smiley!

I keep saying I don't do Christmas... Well, I don't for myself. But I always end up sending everybody presents (which will go out this week, as it's supposed to be cheaper until the 7th), and there's a couple of cards to write - and a lot of ecards to send... And tonight I'll make the dough for the Stollen, that can rise overnight, and will be baked tomorrow. And that's that.  ;)

It has all seemed so easy this year - waiting for the catch!  Enjoying mulled wine most evenings  ;D  my excuse being we've still got lots of snow.

Same here - the snow I mean! Must pick up a bottle of cheap red, could do with internal heating... I'm sitting in the library at the moment which is, although cool, much warmer than the house...

goosepinple if this cold spell lasts you can keep going till new yare .i had this from wether outlook           The cold theme to the weather will continue during the next few days. Wednesday morning will see early rain, sleet and snow clearing away from the south east to leave a bright day for much of the country. However, in eastern coastal counties wintry showers will develop and become heavy, with snow at times. During Thursday and into Friday another another area of rain and sleet will push south across the country, with a risk of snow especially over higher ground in the north, There is a chance of the snow risk dropping to lower levels on the back edge of the disturbance as colder air undercuts it from the north west. There continues to be a good deal of uncertainty about how the weather will develop as we head into next week, but the colder than average spell is expected to continue, and there is a risk of a long fetch easterly flow of the sort we've not seen frequently in recent years. The 60s was the last time and it went on for months .

  Yes, January 1963 actually, when I was born.  Oh, that sounds like another excuse for mulled wine....
