Hi, I'm new to the forum and thought I should introduce myself. I'm 17 and in my final year of secondary school. I am a crofter on the Isle of Lewis, where I keep a small flock of Scottish Blackface ewes and attempt to grow some vegetables! I also help out with a fold of pedigree Highland cattle.
I hope that I will learn lots from the forum members. Can't wait to start posting!

Welcome to TAS. I  know someone on the island who keeps Tamworth pigs. Good luck with all your plans and I look forward to reading your posts.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I didn't know that there are Tamworths on the island, they look like great hardy pigs well suited to the harsh climate. Do you know where about on the island the Tamworths are?  From what I have seen GOS's seem to dominate the pigs on the island. There has been an increase in recent years of people raising weaners on their crofts, keeping pigs has not really been  a part of traditional crofting on the island with a few exceptions.
