All quiet outside :)
« on: December 01, 2012, 05:28:13 pm »
Not sure what to do with myself now... A farming friend asked if they could borrow our two goats for December as they only have piglets and chickens and their Christmas tree /gift shop opened today on their farm and they make a thing of the animals for the public to see, so I've managed to lend them both goats, both sheep and both ponies  :excited:  that only leaves me one hen (Mr Fox helped himself to the rest) and the cats and dogs in the house. Looking forward to a bit of a rest for a couple of weeks, and it will give me extra time for chrismassy things.  But I'm starting to miss them already  we've cleaned out the stables, emptied the muck trailer, tidied the yard,  what shall I do tomorrow? Having a lie in  :fc:

What a problem to have LouiseG! If that was me I'd be starting on the long list of jobs that I never seem to get to. We once had a goat that spent her Christmas holidays taking part in a "walking nativity" where she had to walk along with all the people and be part of the display. Hope you enjoy your lie in tomorrow

I'd be lost without mine as well.  Even though I can't so much with them at the moment, the first thing I do when I get up in the morning is peek through the curtains to see them.  My chair is right by the window so I can watch them through the day.

My sheep are gone, the last of the ram lambs going off tomorrow. The last two little pigs and, regretfully, Choochabella, the gilt, booked in (if she sits and offers me a trotter in the lairage :'( :'( :'( )
I will then only have the two sows who are as dear to me as my dogs are and not an atom of bother. But, oh, the fields do look empty.
I have bought paint to do the inside of the caravan, material to make curtains and a bit of cushion floor to replace the filthy carpet and after that????????? Of course, I have a garden to make :) :)

Winter is always hard when the animals are in at night. When we get a very bad day everything is kept in and I have a PJ day once mucking out ,feeding etc is done and I never feel guilty  :innocent:

Well Louise if you are at a loose end you could come and look after my motley crew. Just been diagnosed with Labrynthitis so every time I move my head I get dizzy and fall over as well as being sick. It was no fun trying to do the animals this morning, eventually had to give in and call for help.
I am sure that the people across the road will have me pegged as a drunk I was staggering about so much and hanging over the fences  :-\ :unwell:

Daisy's mum I wish I could help you out but you are too far.  Not that I could do much anyway but I could have tried.  Hope you feel better soon.    :bouquet:

Sorry daisys mum but you're a bit too far for me as well   but I'll send helpful thoughts and good wishes to you. I'm filling my time we'll, did the church accounts before breakfast, have continued them since returning from work and tried my hand at a bit of decoupage yesterday, covered a chair with music paper for a friend for Christmas just got to varnish it umpteen times now. She saw one in the summer but it was £85 and she couldn't justify that much so I thought I'd give it a go chair and paper have cost less than £20.

I did catch myself looking out the kitchen windows lots yesterday as normally I check I can still see the sheep and goats and I watch what the ponies are up to. Did seem very empty with nothing moving. Never mind they'll be back on Christmas eve  :excited:

Same here - a friend of mine had labyrynthitis last year (had to look it up first - never heard of it!), and I remember how difficult it was for her to do anything on the farm... Never mind going out for work.
