Hi All

Im taking some peacock eggs over to France next week, I have checked with my flight carrier and its Ok for me to put them in my cabbin bag, now what the hell and I going to use to put them in???

Is there such a thing as a special egg box, what do folk use when they send them in the post???

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Any eggs I have received through the post come in polystyrene containers. Just like an ordinary egg box but in 2 halves and obviously made of polystyrene. I would imagine Peacock eggs are quite small, why not just wrap them individually in tissue paper and use a normal egg box and again wrap that in tight cling film? Just a thought. I hope your eggs travel safely.

Yes I was just looking on ebay at them have found just the one

Peacock eggs are huge around the same size as a swans (maybe a little smaller) I have two in a incudbator at the mo, Ive promised two to a lovely French man who has a cracking smallholding so cant let him down, lets just hope my flight carrier hold good to there word and let me take em.

goose/duck egg box inside a icecream tub?

box with toilet paper and eggs in a slightly larger box. will they not get xrayed at the airport.

How about gap-filler foam? Squirt a layer into the bottom of choosen box,put cling film/tin foil over it and nestle eggs half in. Wait til it "goes off" then put cling film/tin foil over the top of the eggs and squirt another layer to the top of the box. Once that layer has gone off,each individual egg has a tailor made cocoon all for itself!...... Ree

Yes paul I am presuming they will, will that cause a problem for the eggs??

Yes it will be a problem for the eggs if they get x-rayed. I used to work at Heathrow on the x-ray machines,amongst other things,and we were instructed not to deliberately x-ray any animal. Most of the time it was cats and dogs,so they came out of the cages,the cages were x-rayed,then the animals replaced after.
My only suggestion would be to take a very small torch,so they can x-ray the container and candle the eggs.... Ree

hand luggage electric stuff and batteries. the torch may cause you more problems than the eggs.

check with the airport/line see if you can get the eggs delt with specially. can't you get them in france.

No Paul they are quite hard to come by in France according to the farmer..who knew!!..lol

Im gonna ring my carrier ...at £1 per minute I might add!!! ..robbing gits!

maybe cheep er to buy young bird and stick them in a pet carrier. a pound a minute what a joke. are peacocks not grumpy beggers.
