Feeling a bit worried
« on: November 13, 2012, 01:50:27 pm »
We have had lots of hare coursing on the land where my pigs are and in the neighbouring field.  3 or 4 chaps turning ups with a few dogs.

We have found 5 dead hares so far, but this is nothing compared to the injury suffered by a local farmer in the next village who tried to stop the hare coursers, on Sunday.  He was run down and then they went for the lady he was with, who luckily escaped.

I've just been told today about a smallholder up the road near Bury St Edmunds whose pig was killed during the night and cut up for meat and another incident towards the coast. Both within the last couple of months.

We never used  to have this sort of stuff happen around here.  Now all of sudden these people have come in and is it really worrying.  I just wonder what is going to happen next.
My pigs are up a dead end lane but there is an off road track that can sweep round to the main road...only locals used to use it for walking dogs.  Now these wretched people are aware of it's in/out route and it makes me feel that everything is up for grabs :(

I just put my piglets out yesterday. They look so brilliantly healthy, absolutely stunning.  Easy to catch in their ark and stuff on a stick :(

Oh dear. Sounds like the people who live in the Red lodge area off the A11. I would not tangle with them - anyway - now that 5 hares are gone they will move on. With luck they will have a go at the large pig farm off the A14 en route to BSE.
try not to worry too much I am sure they will move on ( as they do) - what about some lights triggered by movement detectors on the lane?

or borrow a large black and tan dog or two for a bit - it was the only thing that they were wary of at our old place.

This is worrying.  We live down a dirt track surrounded by fields and at the moment it's only the bloody motocross that are a nuisance.  I've looked on the Norfolk police website and they say to call them immediately; after I stopped laughing and picked myself up I decided prob a couple of dogs and a shotgun may be a better option.....

Yep, that's what the police advised us too. Get the registration and call.....but by then they are onto somewhere else.  By 10.30 Sunday morning, 4 local alerts had been texted through, discounting the one up at ours. Different cars, dogs.  The police dont stand a chance.

Im just keeping my  :fc: that nothing else kicks off.
