Ev'nin' all!

Dixon of Dock Green.  That and Crossroads were probably the first 'adult' telly I liked to watch!

I think Z Cars came after that?  And Doctor Who started around the same time, with William Hartnell as the 1st Doctor.

I can also remember:
  • Take Your Pick ("Open the Box!", "Take the Money!")
  • Opportunity Knocks
  • The Newcomers

Kids' telly was Watch with Mother, of which my favourites were Muffin the Mule and The Woodentops.  Jackanory came along quite a bit later, as did The Magic Roundabout.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

With Zcars came Softly Softly which was always my Dad's favourite programme. Then of course we also had Emergency Ward 10 and of course Corrie!
I dont remember much about childrens telly except Watch with Mother. Andy Pandy was my favourite along with the Wooden Tops.
I also remember Muriel Young as the continuity announcer on ITV along with Fred Barker and Olly Owl.
OOh its a lifetime ago!!

Yes I also remember he used to follow up the story at the end with some words of wisdom, standing on the police station steps.
The New comers was I think about a family who had moved onto a new state, as a teenager I think I fancied the blond daughter, altough I cannot remember a single story line. .

Gosh yes, I remember The Newcomers too. Cant remember many of the cast, so Im going to have to look it up now! Yes we did have a TV, an old thing on a table stand. However, it took years and years before my parents agreed to go over to colour, and they never bought their telly, it was always hired.

Does anyone remember a children's programme called Twizzle? None of my friends can but I'm sure that  I didn't just dream about it.

We used to have a Bush set. With a fabric front and buttons that you really had to press so another popped out. I remember Andy Pandy , Bill and Ben and watching Apollo missions as my Dad was an Astronomer. I remember getting a colour telly especially  for a series the BBC did on Henry the VIII as my Mum has always been a history geek. I really hated Noggin the Nog and one that was something to do with a train.

Bucketman - that's brilliant!
I haven't seen Twizzle  for nearly 50 years and I thought it had been lost forever. I had forgotten it was in black and white. My memory of it is in colour, but i guess that was my childhood imagination. It's a very simple story but it was the first thing that I saw when we got a TV and it seemed completely magical to me then.

Hermit - we had one of those Bush TVs as well. Very clunky. I think we hired it from Rediffusion. The good thing about renting was that when it went wrong (which it did frequently) a man would come out and fix it for free. Mind you it sometimes took a few days, and until he arrived you had to bang the side of the set to get a picture. I became quite good at it! :eyelashes:
